I Like Pink and Orange | Valentina Cirasola |Author

Colors to me have no season and I don’t associate holidays to certain colors, they are just colors and I enjoy their vibrations all year around. I can wear white in the winter or orange in August. What matter is the texture of the colors. A white cuddly wool coat and white woolly hat speak Winter, a silk orange shirt or a silk flowing skirt speak Spring and Summer.

Not everyone can wear bold colors and not everyone can wear soft colors.
I would get very tired wearing soft colors every day, I need a break from one or the other, thus I like to mix soft colors with bold colors to create a rhythm.

Here I am showing one pink light sweater combined with different orange items.

Our skin tone is a major indicator; it will tell which color looks the best and which color fights with it.

To be able to create a color palette that will always be in harmony with our skin, we need to choose colors that have the same temperature and value as our skin, hair and eyes.

I have a golden tone skin with warm temperature because I am tanned most of the year, my eyes are light blue changing to greenish-blue depending on the light and my hair is blondish. I can say my coloring is warm and I can choose colors from both the cool and warm hues families due to the light colors of my eyes and hair. Pink alone will clash with my skin and with my personality unless it is offset with a warm or darker color. I can wear pink accessories freely away from my face.

Warm colors are not off limit to a person with cool colors, just need to find the undertone of the warm colors and mix them with cool colors. Sounds difficult, but in reality it is not.

The spaces in our homes react the same ways when we use the right colors that match the color temperature and color value of our skin. If the wrong color bounces off the walls and reflects on our skin, we will certainly look and feel not at ease.

My book RED-A Voyage Into Colors, Second Edition is a pool of information about colors.

There is a lot to say about colors, when in doubt, ask the color experts. Ciao,

Orange Of Today | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

October in California is the best month, weather is mild warm and the breeze caresses softly. It is such a pleasure being seated outdoor at a restaurant and enjoy lunch with a chilled prosecco.

Today, I wanted to dress with a mix of intense Fall season colors to convey a certain strength and power nature has on me.
In a cool way, typical of my ability to mix colors, I composed my style with sulfur yellow tank, mustard yellow pants, brown leather belt,  mixed brown-gold silk scarf, orange light sweater jacket and mixed jewelry in orange-brown with gold.  A bit of leopard skin doesn’t hurt, especially if it is in the form of Kate Spade’s shoes. This combination is vibrant and very safe, colors are all warm and in the same family. That’s the reason they all work well together, especially if the wearer has a golden tone, olive or tanned skin.

Trying a combination with a cool color on the other side of the color wheel it’s not just good, it’s excellent. Orange, purple and a bit of turquoise is dynamic, zesty, eclectic and playful. As for jewelry, gold tones will go better with orange and silver will mix better with purple, it’s up to the wearer getting the sun energy from the gold or the moon energy from the silver.

Of course, many more colors love orange, as green and blue, but I will leave it to your imagination.

It is time to color your clothes, your closet, your home and everything else around. Leave the Opaque Couché color types to Mark Zuckerberg.

Colors play an important role in the vibe you give off to the rest of the world. It keep away depression, sadness and minor sicknesses. If you wear colors that make you feel good, your brain will know it, your heart will be lighter, positive energy will flow from your veins out of your skin and on your lips forming a big smile. A smile is contagious, people will notice it! Ciao,

Orange’s Friendly Energy | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

Girl-Pink-Green-1aWelcome to my Friday Fashion episode.
A few days ago talking with a girlfriend I realized something about colors I should have known all along. In this country (USA) colors have a seasonal flavor:

Red is for Christmas and end of the year holidays – every woman dresses in red during November and December as if they are wearing a uniform.
Green is for St. Patrick’s Day – Of course everybody who don’t want to be pinched will wear green.
Orange and Orange with Black are for Halloween – No other time of the year I see people in orange.
Red, White and Blue are the patriotic colors of 4th of July.
Then there are colors such as yellow only certain ethnic groups will wear.

What other color is left? Actually the Pantone color wheel includes over 5,000 colors we can swim in. However people limit themselves to beige and grey in all tints and tones, black, blues and purples, very little browns and white, forgetting that the choice of colors is endless. White keeps off the heat of summer, unless people are at a resort, have a maid laundering the whites, not many people will wear it. Visually, white enlarges the shape of a person and shows even a minute stain. It is not very practical for some people.

The color orange likes the energy of green, turquoise and blue, all the cooler colors of the spectrum and that is well-balanced. Orange likes yellow and red, however this combination is truly hot for some people to take. Brown and beige will tone down the energy of orange and if you want to look like Halloween colors, please wear black with orange.

Scarf-Fermaglio-A

I found a great orange wrap during my latest trip to Austria. The grey and cold weather of those parts encourages people to wear vibrant colors that will envelope them in a positive energy and make the winter easier to cope. Colorful clothes are not just for women, in Europe even men don’t have a problem wearing an orange or red pair of pants. They add a darker jacket or coat and feel very comfortable.

This is how I will wear this wrap  made of silk and wool, cotton ruffles and organza trims. For a top to wear over the rust color jeans, I will find some pretty green like the gloves and the vintage necklace. The zebra shoes is the only accent note I want to add. Other times I will wear beige ankle boots.

Don’t be afraid of colors. In nature colors coexist without rules, they can coexist in your life and in your wardrobe as well. Ciao,
