Invoking The Sun

California is known for the wonderful weather, sunny days, gentile winds accompany our working and relaxing days, everything I plant grows well, it feels like Spring most of the year. The mild climate provides different pleasures to different people. In an hour or two we can go from sunny beaches to skiing in the mountains, we can wear short sleeves in January, or a light weight jacket in December and never feel inadequate. I keep buying winter gloves I never wear.

Long time ago, I planted an orange tree right in front of my home office. It is such a pleasure to work with the window open and smell the sweet orange blossoms coming through the window, however, lately, this good weather doesn’t feel like paradise anymore. It has been raining heavy for four months straight, night and day, gusty winds have eradicated heavy trees from their habitats and often I thought the roof of my home was going to come off.

My only protection against the dark, grey and wet days are colors. I hate to think I am probably the only one wearing a lot of bright colors in the rain, but it just feels like the only colors I sees in the streets are grey and black, not even a colorful umbrella every once in a while.

Purple is not a color I wear often, however I adore wearing it with chartreuse and yellow. I think the combination is strong and vibrant. The flower is a semblance of an umbrella for a playful moment.

Why not adding a pair of funky shoes for an amusing look and brighten the day? Maybe dressing in a combination of gold and yellow will call the sun upon me again.

There are areas in this world where rain is part of the everyday life, I would not know how people deal with the rain six or more months out of the year. I was born on the water, under a sun, in a sunny country, without the sun my life would be very sad. I invoke and worship the sun everyday, when it’s not around, I surround myself with a colorful home and clothes. I might be the brightest person on the block, but I care for my wellbeing and believe me, I cheer up a lot of people anywhere I go. That’s my golden attitude, I do what I like and not what is dictated.

Looking forward to sunnier dry days and I strongly hope all these months of rain have not been a weather manipulation by the hands of some psychopath with extravagant ideas on how the world should be….. these days everything is possible. Ciao.

It will be soon 2020 | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

The end of the year is the most special day, at least it is for me. I was taught that the way I end the year and greet the new year is the way I will live the entire year. If I laugh or cry, if I eat a Lucullan dinner or have only a sandwich, if I dress up or not, if I am in the company of people or not, that’s the way it will be for the rest of the year. I do believe in these things, our thoughts become actions, as we know, thus at the end of the year I dress up, wear a pair of red “knickers” for good luck, eat special food and make noises.

Dressing up at the end of the year can be tricky. December is a cold month even here in California. Shops offer cold sleeveless dresses and everything flimsy, unfortunately. I don’t want to get sick on this night and still want to look stylish.
I found a metallic quilted coat to wear with my golden outfit underneath, it’s warm and comfy.

This year as part of my fashion collection, I made a couple Nobility Shoulder Wraps with the cold shoulders feature. The silver/bluish is in my Etsy shop, maybe someone will purchase it for Valentine’s Day and I will wear the golden/greenish tonight with a black top (in my photo).

I chose to go out with pants, boots, and gloves to keep myself a bit warm, all three items are in the gold color scheme. There are a lot more colors to wear at the end of the year besides black and red. Gold is for people like me, goal-oriented and high achievers, it fits my personality.

I am on high heels most of my working days, but I never wear heels taller than I am. The heels of my golden boots are not super high, I will manage to keep the boots on all night without pain.
Remember high heels like skyscrapers are only good when laying down…..

The lining of my quilted coat is black, thus I decided to go with an elegant black top to wear under the nobility wrap, black pochette, and a black shimmering long necklace.

Make-up is my usual soft golden coloring, red lipstick and perhaps a bit of shimmering powder on my face.
I never want to look like a panda bear and you?

It’s time to go to a show. Beach Blanket Babylon is in my plans tonight at the Club Fugazzi. It’s a cabaret show, vaudeville-style. The show is a riot, it has been running for over forty years with a changing script every 2-3 months. I will laugh until my stomach muscles hurt.

I hope you all have a great end of the year and a splendid 2020 all the way through. Ciao,
Valentina

Golden December | Valentina Cirasola | Interior Designer

This month, as everyone in the world, I am in and out of stores, not to look for presents, I buy everything online, but to learn about Christmas trends. Z Gallery has filled the stores with an all-white Christmas from furniture to accessories and Christmas décor. The only color I saw is the table setting in purple-silver and some artificial flower arrangements.

Besides the all-white Christmas, I did notice an overabundance of very modern mirrors, a lot of gold home accessories and tableware. I find shiny gold very pretentious, especially if reflected in mirrors, however, if it is done tastefully, one or two elements can be quite elegant.

I was reading the horoscope for the coming year and apparently the planets are aligning to enter a new era of prosperity, which will last nine years. I like this forecast, don’t you? Knowing that everybody will be well-off and helping others with the wealth created is very reassuring to me.
Forecasts are beneficial to marketing, or any business for that matter. Stores must know trends and colors to sell what people want. Perhaps, all this gold reflects our next direction.

I have not thought yet how to decorate my holiday table this year. My food is always the center of attraction and decorations are minimal.
How are you decorating your table this Christmas? Ciao,
Valentina

Gold Rush | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

Girl-Pink-Green-1aFridays will be dedicated to a different topic: fashion in the world. Today I am serving GOLD.

Gold is a color of royals in any country, the color of winners, success, and abundance. At the Olympics, winners receive gold medals. Gold is associated with elegance, sophistication and wealth. It is the power of the sun and represents masculine energy. At important events is a must to wear something gold.
This spring 2014, there is no limit where and when to wear something gold, we can wear it even in the daytime without appearing vulgar with an inflated sense of self-worth.

Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, described as the designer who “makes women feel like goddesses” presented in Paris his spring collection based on floral and gold. His dresses envision gardens of heaven and femininity.

Dolce & Gabbana Haute Couture portrays an abundance of floral fantasy dresses topped with fantasy gold jewelry. Some of their creations are reproductions of paintings from Van Gogh and Renoir for which copyright reproductions had to be negotiated. I absolutely adore their haute couture collection this year!

Wearing gold jewelry will attract the power of the sun to you, silver jewelry will detract that energy from you and put you under the spell of the moon, a feminine energy.

What do we do in the home? Empower yourself with some gold accessories and the energy of the sun, bring in the sophistication of gold and its magnetic positivism.
