Do You Dress For Summer Heat Or Your Body? | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

I don’t mind Summer, it is a cheerful season and one that gives the permission to be lazy. I just don’t like the heat. How can I have one without the other? Yes, I might lay in shady areas sipping cool drinks all day, or I can be at the beach all day, but how do I fit work and writing into this pleasant scene?
If it is not vacation time yet and must face the daily life in the summer heat, then consider wearing flowing clothes that will move the air around your body, but keep in mind the shape of your body and try not to dress for the heat. It is so easy to get into skimpy clothes when the weather erupts to indecent degree. Grazing vulgarity to fight the heat is unfortunately a scene I see in the streets often.

A few Summers ago, I discovered the comfort of tunics. They don’t cling to the body, they are ample enough to allow air to circulate around the body, they are versatile to cover a bikini or go to work wearing a pair of skinny pants. They come with colorful prints and solid colors, easy to wear in the city even with city shorts, Bermuda and Capri pants.

Most of my tunics have fringes or tassels, I love the rhythm they create when I walk. I try to find very long tunics to which  I make various knots to create high and low lengths in places I think look better for my body.

The last touch to make a tunic a Summer striking piece: accessorize it with chunky jewelry, flat shoes, or chunky heels if wearing skinny pants, a striking pair of sunglasses and a hat. I wear large handbags all the time, however even a cute cutch will work or a shoulder strap sac.

It doesn’t take much to look good and smart, but you must know your body and know how to highlight beautiful features and hide the parts you don’t like. Ciao,
Valentina

Summer Fashion Findings | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

Last month, I was in Europe trotting on the Côte d’Azur, soaking the fizzy air, the weather was not too hot, pleasantly ventilated and the crowd of tourists was limited. My goal was not to spend time at the beach, I have done that, only walking on cobblestones of small villages, talking to people, discovering things, curiosities and food.

In a hole in the wall, as a figure of speech,  I found a small artisanal shop of sustainable fashion products. Everything in there was hand-made or ecologically made, natural dyes, natural fibers and no animal products, such as leather or furs.

These items in various shades of orange attracted my attention. I happened to have an orange pair of mirrored glasses on me, the rest was easy.

Hand embroidered and hand painted tunic, with a salmon orange hat and a papaya bag. It looks so fantastic when I wear it all together.

This barrel, multicolored bag really got my attention. I was asking myself what is it? Is it a bucket, a tube, or a beach thing? Well… I got it because it is hard to tell and I wanted to puzzle people.

Often, it doesn’t take much money to build a nice wardrobe. It’s important to understand the function of each piece, if shapes and colors look good with your complexion and if the new items can be paired with everything already existing in the closet.

Elegant people, stores and yachts fill the Rivera. I could have come away with a handsome yacht owner, instead I came away with a pair of blue velvet Karl Lagerfeld pantoufles, call them sneakers if you would, but not on the Riviera. Two huge rhinestone buckles look as if they could illuminate an entire city. In addition they were discounted 50%, a real snip, if it happens on the French Riviera!
Never use the word “cheap”.

Report In Summer Colors | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

Welcome to my Friday Fashion episode.
Which of the 2017 Pantone colors do you like to wear this summer? Primrose Yellow, Pink Yarrow, Flame, Lapis Blue or Hazelnut? These bright and bold colors will completely put you in a bright light and finally leave out the winter hibernation behind.

Soft colors, neutrals and dusty colors, Bohemian patterns and crochet garments paraded on all runways this year. It was all about the ‘70s revisited and how to wear old ideas, such as bell bottom pants in a new way. Crochet is in the spot light this year, as the new texture and even though it is an ancient art, only a few people today know how to master it. New crochet garments are versatile, feminine, wearable for many occasions, romantic and chic, as they soften the look and hide parts of the body we don’t want to show. I particularly have become attached to dusters and shoulder wraps and I have made a big production for my online Etsy store, all sold out. https://www.etsy.com/shop/ValentinaExpressions

Colors speak about you. Let’s say you create an outfit with Lapis Blue, Primrose Yellow and Hazelnut, what do these colors say about you?
Lapis Blue is linked with positivity, calmness, loyalty and peace, indicates that you’re a trustworthy person.
Primrose Yellow is a sunny, energetic, vibrant and happy color.  Not many people feel confident in yellow. I heard a few people saying yellow makes the face look like yellow jaundice. Yellow tells others that you’re confident and like to receive attention. It’s very welcoming.
Tan – show that you’re down to earth, as all the variations of brown do. It tells you are emotionally stable, grounded, dependable, trustworthy and honest.

Here is my composition of an outfit you can wear this summer using these colors. Basically, I am suggesting a couple of ways to wear this outfit and a great way to cut the clutter in the wardrobe. With one beige pants, you can wear the tank top belted or not, or in alternative with a dressier shirt. Dress the outfit up or down with peep toe shoe or loafer, with or without the crochet jacket, or a longer crochet duster. The blue bag matches the blue jewelry.
This ensemble is perfect for work or for a day of shopping. (Click on the photo to view it larger).

Look sharp even when is hot, but keep in mind your skin tone. If your hair is brown, dark brown, or red and your skin has a warm tone, choose all the warm colors including red, yellow and orange. If your hair is blonde, black, or ash and your skin is light, or pinkish, choose al the cool tone colors including blue, green and purple. Look sharp even when is hot. Ciao,

Trending This Week | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

Girl-Pink-Green-1aWelcome to a new episode of Friday Fashion.

We are in the middle of summer enjoying gardens, beaches, vacation, or backyard fun, but the fashion industries wants us to think of fall and winter. Collections for the next seasons are in stores already, ready for us. I have already seen Halloween and Christmas decorations. Living a year in advance is really awful and I want to linger on lightweight and breezy clothes, light colors, sandals and bikini for a little while longer.

I found a few curious things this week that will make the rest of the summer really fun.
Lipstick
(AliExpress.com)
I am crazy for crazy bags. The lipstick and the mushroom bags are great to start a conversation. They are not the usual bags, take them to a party and watch the effect on others.

Sunglasses: either use them as side table or wear them. Rounded frame sun glasses this summer are the novelty.

Mikita makes them in silver white python. They are $899, just a snip!

Nicholas Kirkwood’s ‘Casati’ sandals have been crafted in Italy from rose gold patent-leather. Let’s not call them “slavery sandals” as Dolce & Gabbana did and offended the entire world. These are low heel T-bar sandals embellished with a row of gleaming faux pearls. $695. Another snip!

I choose low and high-priced items for every taste. I am sure out there plenty store carry similar items at a more affordable price. Let’s’ enjoy another month or two of summer before we can think of warmer clothes, rain, gray days and hibernating for the winter. Ciao,
Valentina

Style Is All About How You Live Your Life | Valentina Cirasola | Designer

Girl-Pink-Green-1aWelcome to my Friday Fashion episode.

It has been hot this summer, as an Italian, I know what living in a hot summer means. It feels as if you want to tear all the cloths off your body and throw yourself in the Trevi Fountain. Keep calm women, do not do that, in Italy you get arrested for playing around on historical sites!!! Anita Ekberg was filming La Dolce Vita when she did that and the city of Rome granted permission to Fellini.

(All images are a property of the respective owners)

Italian women and men do not let the summer heat bother them. Sure they turn to a more casual look and walk around licking a gelato always in stylish clothes.
They wear very light fabrics, such as breathable linen and cotton, light and vibrant colors, wear mostly mini skirts or dresses, their clothes often have fenestration (slits into clothes) and transparencies become a day-to-day habit. They wear comfortable shoes and men wear no socks with loafers, so sexy! Do not forget in the summer heat every part of the body expand, thus having comfortable shoes to walk on cobblestones is a necessity and if you feel like wearing some pink and silver boots like one the women above, go ahead, I hope there is AC in there.

My ideal dandy looks like him in the heat of the summer.

Style is all about how you live your life regardless of the heat. Show how cool you can be. Ciao,
Valentina
