The Road To Top Of The World | Valentina Cirasola | Author

“In an alleyway, a large iron door is open and welcomes everyone. Laundry is hanging in the early morning in the hot sun of South of Italy. A large jug of wine wrapped in a basket weave is resting on the ground in the shade. A vivacious middle-aged woman making orecchiette pasta in that courtyard repeats each and every piece, in the same size, her gestures are punctuated as the perfection of time in the Universe. It is Sunday. The church bells mark the hour and boys are playing soccer in the streets full of pebbles, they are yelling, laughing and are happy to be together.
I am roaming in antiquity. It is Sunday. The smell of meat ragout being prepared fills the nostrils and I realize life here is slow and sweet, as it should be.
My thoughts, reflections, and vagueness are sometimes sweets and sometimes bitter in no particular order. It is Sunday, the kind of Sunday I have no longer….This is a book of Puglia, lose yourself in my stories of this magic Southern region of Italy”.

Polignano – Entry Old Town

This is a travel narrative of one trip To Puglia I organized with American friends and curious travelers willing to explore, learn, experience, taste, and dream in a land they had never visited before and in a language totally foreign to them. A wheel of new emotions opened up before their eyes, they tried food didn’t even know existed, learned to cook in ancient kitchens; they learned to appreciate the nightlife, learned to live without phones, watches and technologies; copied Italian fashion, learned about traditions, rituals, country, and folk celebrations; they all tried to learn local dialects and some succeeded well. Their perspective to life was forever changed.
