Colors fill every moment of my life, whether I am designing, painting, cooking, sewing, gardening or just plain admiring the world, colors never escape me. I watch deep into art and discover details others don’t see. I detect colors in people’s eyes they don’t even know to have. I distinguish a particular color nuance in food and turn it into a new color palette for homes or fashion.
I was looking at the film preview about Coco Chanel Once Upon A Time… made by Karl Lagerfeld and I also saw this video about Chanel new rouge color in cosmetics. It caught my eyes because some descriptive words used in this video gave me the idea for the next step: create my color scheme in red, not any red, but a palette made of rouge moiré played up with moiré fabrics.
I listened to the words in the video:
Play of light on fabrics inspired the moire’ rouge collection.
Different types and alchemy of mother of pearl.
Black.
Red enigmatic.
Rich brownish red with gold and silver pearls.
Pearl reflects in the light.
Sculpting, layering, contrasting, reflecting.
As often happens words describe colors by feelings, emotions or character, but they are also suggestive of how to proceed.
These words hold the secret for creating a stunning look for your own outfit or a special room. The secret in combining colors is to sculpt, layer and contrast.
In both cases, fashion or interiors, the beige and light reflecting fabrics dilute the heat of rouge allure, with the brown tones acting as a grounding colors. This rouge palette is luminous and vibrant and it’s called allure for the quality of being powerfully and mysteriously attractive. By the way, I love the only purple pillow on the sofa!
